“Would You Paint the Walls in our Craft Room with Nature Designs?”
… said Eureka Children’s Museum.
Yes, I said, I’d blummin love to! Here are the results, and you can have a closer look if you visit this wonderful museum of fun and learning. You’ll have to take a child to get in though :-)
Insect dry point etchings using Tetra Packs
A free public drop in workshop I did at the Townhall for Hebden Bridge Arts’s Launch 70. I chose insects because they are a vital part of the planet’s ecosystem and they are rapidly in decline so our ecologies are under threat. It’s a celebration of insects in all their glory. Let’s protect them, leave wild areas, plant wild flowers, let lawns grow, don’t use chemical herbicides and pesticides, allow rewilding….
Connections to Nature
I did a project with year 10s in Rastrick High School as part of Hebden Bridge Arts larger project with 6 community groups called Landmarks.
I chose the theme Connections to Nature as a good starting point for the students to think about the places, outdoor activities or wildlife that were special to them and connected them to nature. We did relief collagraphs and collages with printed papers, as well as some work in their sketchbooks, and then everyone chose one piece to put in an exhibition at Gibson Mill.
